Why Isn't He a Hero to Us?

This post is long overdue. The 2005 Nobel Prize in Economics was co-won by Robert (Yisrael) Aumann, a shomer torah and mitzvos and a talmid chacham. He has written extensively on Chazal's understanding of economic theory, and shown proficiency in both iyyun and bekius though not a Rav or a Rosh Yeshiva.

Moreover, he is an example of kiddush Hashem in the manner in which he accepted the Nobel Prize while scrupulously adhering to Shabbos, and in his speech, which was dedicated to praising Hashem for the opportunities he gave him and for his family, and even in checking his tuxedo for shatnes.

One son died in the service of Israel, and to my knowledge he has not voiced a bitter word. He gives every male grandchild a Shas at Bar Mitzvah to emphasize the primacy of Torah.

And he certainly has preserved a Jewish appearance (even sans shtreimel) in a very unwelcoming secular environment.

So I've got an eensy beensy little question. It is:

Why aren't our (chareidi) children hearing his name and accomplishments as an example and a role model???

Well, Maybe I Should Have Protested

Looking at the big picture ( and this is from someone who didn 't oppose the Sharon withdrawal), I guess the 'nut cases' were right.

Who'd a figured?

How Will We Find Out About Moshiach

The speakers and posters against internet frequently will invoke hastening moshiach's coming as a result of our pure abstinence from the forbidden electronic tumah.

If they are really and truly expecting moshiach, I beg to inform them that moshiach's arrival will in more likelihood be heralded on the internet first.
