World Frumnet Roundup

Post Yom Tov, let's review and take a look at our community's ongoing admission of weakness in the face of the internet.

Dateline Lakewood: Since no child with internet in the house whose parent has not received a heter will be admitted to any cheder, we have now made another bold step forward in the 'Amishization' of the next generation, as well as their vulnerability to any and every temptation. With one and the same stroke, we are also abandoning the hashkofa of chinuch pioneers such as R' Shraga Feivel Mendelovitz.

And when all government programs are put on the internet . . . ?

Dateline Belz: As reported in Hamodia, the Belzer Rebbe has stated in shtehendige Torah that parents who have internet will lose control of their children.

Interesting.

I guess that explains why the majority of American Jews are mechalilei shabbos. It also explains why the children of those who don't have internet fall so much harder than those whose parents guide them and teach them about filters and responsible use, particularly by example.
Kovod Kedushas M'Belz, Shlita also encouraged yinger leit who are not successful or able to remain in lernen after a year in kolel to learn a trade.

Dateline Redmond: Microsoft is preparing for a day when all of their software will be net based.

Kanoyim please note: We chareidim may as well get ahead of the curve and forbid Word and Excel right now.

Career hot tips: Whipmaker and blacksmith may yet make a comeback, chevra.

No they won't have to ban Word and Excel.

They will make available free copies Word for Windows 3.11 donated by a very stingy donor.

U make a very important point.

I still remeber only some five six years ago when the only two 'kosher' professions were accountancy and IT, whether programing or networking. Now IT has joined the list of suspicious professions like becoming a doctor or solicitor. In fact it is worse than those. Its a big change. The community is left with no real options.

The belzer rebber might have at long last realised that we have to get out there and learn a living if we are not to be all living in dire poverty. It will take him another decade for him to realise that there is no work out there that his followers can actually do.
